Body in motion can be attracted to each other, even when they are quite far apart and separated by many other objects: That, in a nutshell, is the conclusion of a research team at MIT something unexpected.
Scientists have long known that small particles of matter, the size of the dust grains of sand, can influence others through electrical, magnetic and chemical. Now, the team found a new type of long-term interaction between particles in a liquid medium, which depends entirely on their movements. And this interaction should be applied to any type of particles traveling, if the cells or particles of metal agitated live magnetic fields.
The discovery, which has both living and nonliving particles is described in an article by Alfredo Alexander-Katz, Professor Walter Henry Gale Associate of Materials Science and Engineering at MIT, and his co-researchers in the Proceedings of the National Academy of sciences.
